It's The Law! Every person involved in the sale or handling of alcohol and tobacco must have a valid and current bar card, issued by the Louisiana State Office Of Alcohol and Tobacco Control. Failure to comply is punishable by law. Fines may be imposed without going to court.
When a job involves selling alcohol and tobacco a server must have their state permit and one form of identification available for immediate inspection by the Office of Alcohol and Tobacco.
- Each form of identification must be current and valid
- Every server must be able to identify invalid forms of I.D.
- Vendors are responsible to supply local ordinanaces to the servers.
- Responsible Vendor Permits, also known as Bar Cards, are valid any where in the state.
- Every server must be familiar with the OWI and DUI laws as well as penalties
